I am generally not a fan of large chain restaurants, but decided to visit this one due to proximity to the hotel. The service was excellent, good job Conner. The steak was flavorful, tender, and medium rare. Garlic mashed potatoes were ok, broccoli was steamed, not mushy, not raw. I was there early, 5:30 so I'm not sure if you'd have the same experience at 7:30. I'd go again.

NO STARS IT WHAT I WANTED TO GIVE THIS PLACE. Should have heeded the advice of my Yelp family and stayed away. With the exception of the cheerful hostess who seated me, I honestly can't say anything nice about this place. If you value your time and your money, you'd be wiser to take your business somewhere else when in Battle Creek.

Terrible. Can't get our food correct. 2 out of 4 meals. Steak and chicken tostada salad. Kids meals were hot but served after the adults and an hour+ wait. Can't get a refill.

I have to be honest. We do not live very far from Lone Star and we have certainly seen some of the poor service that has plagued this location in the past. Tonight we went in and both the hostess and our server were cheerful. Nothing that we have not witnessed before. The big difference was being greeted right away by our server and then our meal brought out in a timely manner after ordering. Kudos! We were very happy! Keep it going as I would hate to lose an option for dinner.

Not good! I had the 6 oz. bacon wrapped sirloin. Asked for it medium rare and it was rare. That's not a big deal to me since I don't mind rare steak. The only flavor in the meat was from the flabby bacon. No pepper, salt or spices. I chose the Mac and cheese, fried and wedge salad as sides. All were unremarkable as was the service. I won't be back. The only really good thing was it was kids night and I got to pet a police dog.

American Dinner. The service and staff were professional, attentive and neat. I forget that we in America like themed restaurants. It was a cool theme. The music, and ambiance are fitting. The full bar is nice with a good meal. Drink prepared and served in a timely manner. The food is ok. I ordered a chicken sandwich topped with onion rings. It was nothing special but had enough flavor to fill my stomach. The bbq sauce was average and the chicken was typical. My dates steak burger was the same, he was neither amused nor disappointed just full. We both wanted to venture for something more elaborate on the menu but we both knew and dared not order something that was overpriced. My complaint is that the food is not worth the price. The salmon was $16.99 and I have a strong feeling it's freezer salmon and thawed vegetables. Take the price down a notch. This is essentially a grade above ponderosa.

I have been debating writing a review all day, and have decided it will bother me until I do.. I went into Lone Star last night with a party of 5. We arrived just before 8:40pm after a basketball game. A hostess welcomed us and asked for our name, which was confusing as there were only 2 tables taken throughout the whole restaurant. She then left for about 5 minutes as they "cleaned a table for us." One in my party went outside to check hours thinking the restaurant might be closing at 9. This was not a factor, though, as the hours read 10pm. I'm still unsure what the wait was for as every table but the 2 already mentioned were clean and open. The hostess finally returned and took us to a table. The waitress, Paige, stood by our table without a word. When we finally decided to order our drinks, her only response upon the order was "K." and she walked away. One in the party ordered a draft beer, the rest ordered either soda or water. It took 5 minutes for the soda and water to be delivered, at which the waitress set them in front of us and asked if we were ready to order. We weren't. After a good 10 minutes, we decided to order an appetizer and asked for our friend's beer to be delivered. The waitress responded she didn't know where the bartender was, but she'd put the food order in. After another 5 minutes, we motioned for our waitress (who stood in a corner by a computer/register the whole evening) and asked for the beer again. She sighed heavily and said she hadn't seen the bartender yet. I mean, after at least 15 minutes she hadn't even gone to find the bartender? It was a pint of Bud Light! A minute later she came back with the beer and asked if we were ready to order. The appetizer we ordered was the fried onion. This came out about 10 minutes after my friend finally got her beer. It was very good. Our only complaint was that we asked for ranch on the side (three times: when we ordered it, when the beer came, and when it was actually brought out), yet the ranch didn't appear until half the onion was gone. We also had three side salads coming with meals, but they never showed up before meals, which is typically how courses are done. The manager, John I believe his name was, came to our table (as we were one of two tables still remaining) and asked how our night was going. We inquired on the salads. He said he'd go see where they were, but never returned. We saw him standing near the bar a few minutes later, but he never came to tell us anything about the salads. Dinner itself came out 20 minutes after this, at a little past 9:30pm. The two guys ordered the Bubba Burger and said they were very good: juicy, flavorful, and enough to compensate for such a late dinner. The other three of us ordered the 6oz bacon-wrapped sirloin with mashed potatoes and a side caesar salad. The waitress set them in front of us and asked "Is there anything else?" We asked about our salads one more time, as they still hadn't appeared, and her response was that they hadn't been put together yet. 3 minutes later the salads finally came out... and were the best part of the meal. The steaks were ridiculous. My "bacon-wrapped" steak was actually a 3-inch slice of bacon sticking to one side of the steak. My medium-well cooked steak was switched with my friend's medium because no indicators were used. I'm thankful for the mix-up though! The steaks were awfully dry. I had to get two ranch's on the side (which arrived 5 minutes after I asked so my food was already cool) just to help wash them down. The potatoes tasted as if they had been sitting out since we ordered and were ice cold. It was one of the worst meals I've ever eaten. We voiced our disapproval to the manager, to which he apologized again and again. However, when our checks came, no discounts! Nothing. Our friend who had to wait 20 minutes for a beer didn't even get the beer taken off (though I know alcohol can't be given free, bu something should have been done.) Overall, we paid $64 for four people and for the worst meal I have experienced in a long, long time. And on top of that, the service was horrible. The girl could barely speak to us, and when she was forced it was in short, sassy sentences. I got the distinct feeling she was supposed to go home early or something but instead had to serve us. My group usually tips at least 25%; we're very appreciative of the service industry and servers in general. She only received 10%, and that was definitely undeserved. This restaurant needs some serious adjustments. Very dissatisfied, will not return, and will/have told friends of our experience.

This is the worst Lone star I've ever been to. There's obviously a management problem. The food was NOT good at all and the service was nonexistent. Bread was cold, French onion soup was gross (I've never had French onion soup that I didn't like until this place), steak was flavorless, sweet potato wasn't warm enough to melt the butter, the list could keep going but you get the point. Believe the other reviews on this place. It's that bad...

We recently stopped here on the way home from a day trip to Chicago. We thought it sounded like a good idea, but we probably would've been better off getting fast food. Once we were seated, we quickly decided we wanted to do the 1 appetizer, 2 entrees and 1 dessert for $25. It took forever for the waitress to even acknowledge us. We started off with the hot wings appetizer. It was 4 boneless chicken tenders and they were good. We both got the sirloin for our entree, mine with broccoli and his with mashed potatoes. Both of ours were overcooked balls of meat. It was tough and flavorless despite having some tasty juices which I used to dip my broccoli in. I ate all my broccoli and hardly any of the meat. His mashed potatoes were probably the best part of the entree, but you can make those at home just as easily. We got our brownie (sans ice cream obviously) to go. It did not look or taste fresh. In fact, it is still in our fridge now waiting to be thrown out. We need to stick to grilling our steaks at home where we are never disappointed.

My comments aren't reviewing their food, just their customer service. I called there today and spoke to a very rude female employee. I believe her name was Steffanie. I was simply inquiring if they could verify a charge that was posted to an employee's credit card. Our company has given this particular restaurant along with others in the surrounding area a good deal of business. And this is a request I've successfully completed with many restaurants who were always more than happy to help. This employee was not. Her initial greeting/introduction had a miserable tone. I always call in the morning/before lunch when I know restaurants are not busy. I usually am received with pleasantry. Instead a short pause after my request was followed by an abrupt "what do you need?". I re-explained and was then only asked "where are you calling from?". I stated my company's name and tried to clarify by asking if she was able to access receipts in their computer. Again, a short/awkward pause was following by "no" and nothing more. Obviously, reaching a dead end I hung up. It may seem trivial but these are the types of experiences that affect people's perceptions. If I can't be treated politely over the phone then I certainly won't be giving someone my personal business.

Whenever my wife and I want to go have a good steak, Lone Star is usually one of the top three on the list to go to. They have great service, and their booths are large and comfortable. Their menu is pretty good, and I have always had friendly service from their staff. It has never been too busy that I needed a reservation either.

Kind of off the beaten path in Battle Creek, Lone Star is located directly across the highway from Dennys and Cracker Barrel. I have been here several times for lunch and dinner, and the food is very good. The service is also always good. Lately I have been getting the Garlic Lovers Steak Tips over a bead of rice. Unfortunately I was informed that they do not have these any more. The steaks are always good, and their house salad is also good. However, I do not care for the blue cheese dressing. The bar area is usually pretty empty, but the draft beer is extra cold. Overall, I like this Lone Star and will be back. It is not easy to see if you are on Beckley road, but it is worth driving across the bridge and getting a good steak.

This was one of the worst dining experiences I had in a while. Starting off, the decor is horrible and the place was a mess. Bathrooms were dirty with no towels. Despite being almost empty, there were still lots of dirty, uncleared tables that we walked by on our way to our table in back next to the kitchen - and plenty of bored servers standing around texting. Ordered a six ounce bacon wrapped filet that was about $19. Came with French onion soup, which was some light broth, with crisp, uncooked onions, topped with a soggy piece of white bread and cheese. The steak was cooked correctly at medium rare, but the bacon was soggy and raw. Garlic mashed potatoes might have been good when they were fresh and warm, but mine were cold. My husaband's steak was cooked correctly too, potato was good, but the salad was an overdressed bed of iceberg lettuce. Our bill for two steaks was $46, which was outrageous for the poor quality. Service was ok, but we were a large group at a round table and they kept handing things over people, including plates that they warned the person was hot and it definitely was! I cannot remotely recommend it and would not consider giving it a second try unless the place got a good thorough cleaning and the prices got cut by about 30%.

Amber and Josh. I was really surprised today when I went to lone star restaurant. I casually mentioned to our waitress Amber when I was ordering my dinner that the last time I was in the restaurant the stake I had was very fatty. And there was hardly any meat in it. I was very disappointed and I didn't want to come back here. Amber was very concerned. She said I should have said something, and they would have fixed it. Apparently she went and mentioned this to Josh, the manager maybe, who stopped by our table. And casually asked what kind of steak I had ordered. I told him I didn't really remember. I thought it was New York strip. He asked me how I had the steak prepared. I told him and he left. A little while later Josh came by with a steak on the plate. It was well done. He wanted me to try it and see whether it was okay. I was quite surprised. I had not expected that. I really appreciate the concern they had for making a customer happy. It really shows the concern for making sure that everything is okay for their patrons. Best of all, the steak was good.
